MUSICS OF PEACE AND QUIET

Music arises out of silence, like form from emptiness. And the best music, just like the best of poetry and visual art - takes us deeper than words, deeper than its own images and melodies, to a quieter place in the heart. The silence underlying all things is the most vast thing we experience. It is as if the big bang left us only with quiet reverberations.

Here are ten selections which in their softness speak to us of the peace and the silence that is the environment from which sounds blossom.
